In the midst of operating business, do you ever feel like you’re on a rollercoaster? There are those amazing moments of absolute joy, bliss, victory, energy, creativity and then you’re heart is racing, your feel tense, and you’re entirely stressed out.
An entrepreneur’s world is really one hell of an uncertain ride and certainly not for the faint of heart.
What does it really take to be successful? Is there a magic pill? Hell NO or we would all have gulped it down already! So many people seem to think the grass is greener on the other side, particularly when things don’t seem to be going their way. In moments like those, it’s helpful to ask yourself – what was it that made you decide to follow your dreams in the first place?
Here’s my take: you may have hit a threshold and got to a point in your life where enough was enough, you weren’t going to be told what to do anymore, or deal with the pain of what it was that you were doing. So what happened? You made a decision.
Tony Robbins says that when you make a decision it means you cut of any other possible thoughts. If you are an entrepreneur I acknowledge you and you to should do the same. Here’s something that will help you get consistent results during your toughest times. I call it the“Magic Formula.”
It’s like baking a cake. If you use a lesser quality ingredients and / or miss an ingredient, then you can expect an ordinary result – if any. If you use all three high quality ingredients, BOOM!! You get the ULTIMATE RESULT you were looking for. So here it is:
4 Steps to Actually Achieving Any Goal
- Know your ultimate outcome and be really clear about what it is you are focused on. In other words, have a very strong, tangible goal in mind. Examples: you want to get x number of new clients, start a new project or make x number of more dollars. Write those goals down.
2. There are going to be days when your goal seems insurmountable. The way to combat that? Keep a journal.
In this journal, write each of your goals at the top of a blank sheet. Then underneath, you’ll track your progress on each. Stay committed to this process. When you track your progress like this – it will motivate you to keep going! And as you go through the ups and downs of achieving your goals , have the courage to trust your instincts and the determination to follow through.
3. Bring absolute intensity & energy to the table. You need these two things to power through the challenges you’ll inevitably face. Sure, there are going to be days when you are burned out and just don’t feel like doing it. Don’t get down on yourself for having those days – it will inhibit your progress. Instead, listen to you body and mind and maybe take a day out to regroup and recharge – then get back on it with energy!
4. Be consistent. You don’t have to be a genius to be successful, but you do have to be consistent. Nobody got anywhere by fizzling out after day two. Recognize that the work that you are doing is not easy – then make a pact with yourself to power through it every day.
You have your homework. Now go forth and achieve!
